The Very Best Ways to Organize Your Home

Now that spring cleaning is done, it’s time to put away all of the sweaters from the winter, break out the bikinis for summer, and finally organize your home. If you struggle to find your keys in the morning or find your favorite cardigan before a night out, here are our best tips for organizing your home.

Make Your Game Plan

First, make a game plan to decide exactly how you will organize your home. Everything in your home needs, well, a home! Electric bills, purses, and books all need their own places to rest at the end of the day. If you don’t take the time to find a place for your belongings, they will never have a place to go. If you stumble upon things that you aren’t using while you organize your home, donate them somewhere else or dispose of them properly. Last but not least, don’t stop until you are done! Organizing can take a while, but if you do a thorough job and maintain the results you will never need to do it again.

Ask the Tough Questions

When you are shopping or organizing the things left in your home, take the time to ask yourself some tough questions before putting the item away:

  • Is this an item that I will use or do use on a regular basis?
  • Do I already have an item that looks like this or performs the same function?
  • Where will I put this away?

Move from Room to Room

The easiest way to organize your home is by moving from room to room. You will be encouraged by how lovely each space looks when you are done and get more motivation to continue your project. Start in the kitchen and pantry area. Next, tackle any closets or coat racks in your home. The bathroom and linen closet should be taken care of next. Now, tackle the tougher areas like playrooms, kids’ closets, and kids’ bedrooms. Once you are done, tackle the family room, living room, and finally, your bedroom.
