How to Create Crafty Nooks Inside Your Custom Home

There are so many different ways to create some nooks in your new home.

Open, entertainment-friendly family areas are always welcome in today’s new custom home market, but everyone loves having a spot to unwind and relax in peace, too. Building a new custom home gives you the chance to have a spot where nooks run aplenty for smaller gatherings or private retreats. There are so many different ways to create some nooks in your new home, and this is where we come in. Read on for a few ideas for creating crafty nooks inside of your custom home!

Window Seats

The window seat is probably the most iconic nook in any architectural design. One could have a window seat under a bay window or in between two cabinets or bookshelves. A built-in window seat is a true luxury, perfect for reading a book or simply watching the world go by too.

Underneath the Stairs

The space that is under your stairs usually goes unused. Make the most of your home’s square footage by creating a nook in this space. One smart option is to use it as a kind of pantry or janitorial cabinet. One other option is to turn it into an indoor dog house or playhouse for the kids. It can get very creative!

On Your Landing

With a broader landing or just one staircase on the way leading up to your home’s loft, you can create a smaller book for two or more people to sit, drink some coffee or tea, and chat. This can take many different forms and be as broad or cozy as possible.

In Your Attic

The attic is an added bonus that can take on a lot of different uses, like a bedroom, a hobby room, an office, or more. Arguably, this hidden away real estate could be considered a real nook. Creating nooks inside your custom home could reach new levels within the attic.

In Your Turret

If you want a uniquely crafted custom home design, then add a tower or turret to your floor plan. With a tower, you could have at least two levels of customized nooks. For example, the ground floor nook could be a breakfast area, while upstairs can be a sitting or gaming area.
