Summer Upgrades for Your Custom Home

Summer Upgrades for Your Custom Home robin ford builders

When building your custom home, make sure it’s suitable for the summer.

When building your custom home, make sure it’s suitable for every season possible. No matter what nature throws at you, you want to be certain that you’ll enjoy it in the comfort of your custom house. Summer features, in particular, are important for keeping cool even during the sunniest summer months. Now that temperatures are soaring through the roof, we’ve started thinking about some of the summer features we’ve seen through the years—and you might want to start thinking about them, too!

Automated Shades

Ever been trying to relax, and that pesky sun won’t let you, but you’re already comfortable? It might be a small issue, but it feels great to tackle it with one of our favorite summer features: automated shades. These help you take control of when and where sunlight ends up. Say bye-bye to manually raising window shades daily; now you can easily set up a routine so wonderful natural sunlight will pour into your bedroom right when you wake up. Sounds pretty nice if you ask us!

Metal Roofs

You may not think of metal as a roofing material, but it can be a fantastic option, especially if you want to keep your home cooler. Metal is incredibly conductive and very energy efficient, helping keep heat out of your home. It can also be incredibly beautiful, so take a look at some of the options out there, and you may be surprised.

Improved Insulation

In the past, poor insulation was the biggest culprit behind difficulties during extreme weather. A poorly insulated door or window will let cool air out during the summer. It’ll let hot air out during the winter, too! It’s also not very energy efficient, so your bills will go up. When building your custom home, look for high-quality insulation in your doors and windows to ensure you’re always comfortable.

Modern HVAC System

Nothing beats the heat quite like a good, efficient HVAC system. Newer models are capable of cooling much more than older ones. You can even get smart thermostats so everyone in the household can control the temperature in their hands. By installing a quality HVAC system from the start, you won’t have to worry about as much maintenance, either.
