The Top Fall Custom Home Design Trends

Finding the right custom home design is an involved process.

Finding the right custom home design is an involved process. Trends come and go, so you never want to fall into the trap of being too trendy, but they can also give you a good idea of some of the latest innovations and what kinds of aesthetics are going to last. This fall, we’re seeing a return to custom home design that prioritizes warmth and hominess, especially with so many people stuck at home.

Lighting Options

Forget about the cool metallic and gray tones that have dominated the modern custom home design scene for so long. Instead, this fall we’re seeing a lot of natural textures and colors. Lighting is an interesting area to think about that in. Lighting fixtures with wood accents or handcrafted metal pieces can help warm up a space, making it feel like a contemporary spin on traditional appeal.

Picking Floors

There are so many warm flooring options out there, like medium brown tones that are still neutral enough to build off of. For bedrooms, many are choosing patterned and textured carpets which not only up a new world of design possibilities but are also much easier to maintain than typical carpets with tiling options that can simply be swapped out if damaged. If you want some color to change things up, blue tiles are in right now.

Furnishing Your Custom Home

Big box, mass-produced furniture is losing its appeal. These days, many would rather ditch “fast fashion” and find something that’s high-quality and has clear attention to detail. Even if your budget limits you, just one or two craftsman quality pieces can completely alter your custom home design.

Hardware Trends

The past few years have seen minimalism taking the world of home design by storm, but these days, it’s all about going big. Contemporary hardware is ornate and full of design character. Take a door handle as an example—brushed brass combined with polished chrome can be combined to create a look that’s anything but minimalist while still feeling modern.

Working From Home

With so many people working from home, it’s important that you think of what that space looks like. Your custom home should cater to any work from home needs. The biggest trend we’ve seen in this space is outdoor working spaces. By installing an umbrella or creating a covered porch area, you can get your work done in comfort.
