Features to Consider When Creating a New House

The features you put into your custom-built home will be with you for plenty of years to come.

There is a lot to think about when you are crafting a new house. From design finishes to the layout, and everything in between, the features you put into your custom-built home will be with you for plenty of years to come. It is also an opportunity to get quite creative and put in some unique features that you may not be able to find if you were to buy a pre-owned home. Below we have compiled a list of a few of our favorite features to consider when creating a new house. Read on to learn more!

Custom Shelves in Your New House

There is no better time than as your new house is being built to add in a few custom shelves. A well-placed built-in shelf could serve as a focal point for one of your rooms. Bookshelves arranged around an archway, or some multimedia unit in the living room could also work great. Custom shelving also has a lot of utility, just think about all of the additional storage you could get.

Higher Ceilings in Your New House

Speaking of opening up your spaces, it is almost always worth splurging for those taller and higher ceilings. There is a big difference in the look and feel between 6’ ceilings and 8’ and taller ceilings. The latter options make a considerable addition not just in the actual amount of space your new house has but in how luxurious it looks.

Heated Flooring

Picking the right custom flooring is a big decision when building your new house. One type of flooring increasing in popularity is radiant heated floors, which have warming coils running right underneath your floorboards that can be turned on with just a switch. They are a luxurious addition to your bathrooms and could be used to warm up flooring over colder areas of your home, like rooms built over slabs rather than the foundation. If you live in a colder area or want some extra comfort, ask your custom house builder if these are an option.
